A Major Change

The MS and HS Blogs are the Same. You only need to read one of them if you have children at both levels.

Blizzard Of March 2017 Leads to a Major Change in the School Calendar
By the time March rolled around, many of us had thought that we had escaped the winter relatively unscathed. But God had other ideas, and the blizzard of March 2017 hit us with snow and sleet. Because of the two snow days and the one delay, we are now a quarter of a day over our number of hours that we need to be in school for the year. As a result, the Board of Trustees has decided that CCS will be in school on Wednesday, April 12, and that the last day of the school year will be June 8. Graduation will still be on June 9. This change should not impact our HS June Term or 8th-grade final assessments.

Report Cards and Concerns
Report cards recently went out, and, hopefully, your child’s made it home, and you have seen it. If not, you should ask him/her for it. As always, if you have a question about a grade, please contact your child’s teacher. Remember that you can follow your child’s progress throughout the trimester on ParentsWeb as well as contact your child’s teacher at any time.

Grandparents Day Is around the Corner
Grandparents Day this year is Friday, April 7. We love having our grandparents here and having them in the classrooms. The program for grandparents starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. for the middle and high schools. If you would like your child to go home at that time with his/her grandparents, a pre-planned absence form (click here for the form) must be submitted by Wednesday, April 5. We look forward to seeing your child’s grandparents on April 7.

Enrollment Is in Full Swing
CCS has been receiving many inquiries, giving many tours, and has begun interviewing families for enrollment for next year. If you know of any families who are considering Christian education, have them look into CCS. They can check out our website, visit an open house, and/or set up a tour. If they are interested in attending an open house or taking a tour, have them contact Michelle Parris at 610-286-0353 or email her at michelle.parris@conestogachristian.net. For dates and times of upcoming open houses, see the CCS website.

New Family Referral Credit
Did you know that if you refer a new family to CCS, you could receive a tuition credit? If you refer a family and they enroll at CCS, you are eligible for a tuition credit of $600. All you have to do is fill out the New Family Referral Incentive - Credit Request Form (click here for the form and questions and answers about the program), submit it to Mr. Detwiler, our business manager, and when the family enrolls, you will receive the credit.

Your Kids Should Not Be Most Important Part of Family
Recently an editorial that was written by a family psychologist, John Rosemond, was shared with me. The title is “Your Kids Should Not Be Most Important Part of Family.” While I don’t know if he is a Christian or not, I believe there is much wisdom in what he shares, and I believe that the roles he discusses in the family are principles that can be found in the scriptures. Mr. Rosemond shares that the most important thing about children is the need to prepare them for citizenship. Here he is talking about citizenship in our communities and country. While this is important, it is even more important that we prepare our children for a life of discipleship and citizenship in God’s kingdom. If we don’t do this, our children may grow up with a sense of entitlement and may become narcissistic. To read this editorial, you can find it on the Internet by clicking here.
